In Romania, Selectia Nationala is always a mix of well-known artists and complete beginners.
Among the more experienced ones this week, The Humans!
How would you define yourself in one word?
How would you describe your state of mind when you're on stage?
How would you quickly tell the story of the group?
We've been singing together for many years and have had hundreds of live performances, but at the beginning of last year we changed our formula slightly and we've started this project, The Humans. The general public has gotten to know us in this formula because we are the band of Zaza Sing TV show, which streams on one if the most popular TV-channels in Romania, Antena 1. We have also signed with Roton and launched our first single, "Indura inima" and now "Goodbye" with which we'll participate at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. Maybe the most interesting thing about The Humans is that we have been true friends for dozens of years, ex music academy colleagues, involved in many projects but always together. We are truly friends. And first of all, we always have fun together, and we create good music together.
How does one make you angry?
How does one make you happy?
Sharing positive things.
How would you define your taste in music?
We like all kinds of music from all over the world. But it seems that pop rock is the most loved in our band.
If there was just 1 artist you could listen to for the rest of your life, who would it be?
How would you describe Goodbye, your song for the contest?
We live in a rushed world in which we, as people, forget to see the beauty around us and we ignore perhaps our most important 'obligation' of ours, that of being happy. We fight with ourselves, with our fears and we try to rise, alone. Goodbye
is a manifesto in which certainly many listeners will find themselves, it's an urge to motivate each other not to give up on our dreams and to offer each other strength without minding our skin colour, eye colour or social condition. This is the reason we've used white masks in our video, through which we want to emphasize the fact that essentially we are all the same, we are equal in our rights to dream and aspire to high ideals.
How did you make the decision of entering Selectia Nationala this year?
This is the second time we are doing this. It seems that we enjoyed the first time so much we couldn’t resist entering again :))
How would you make us want to come to Romania?
Romania is a colourful country, it's a place of contrasts. There are powerful places and colours but also bland places, places with warm colours and others with cold colours. Surely, in order to convince you to visit us, we would use art, as art has the ability of communicating beyond language. We would take you to artistic workshops and we would show you some live concerts where our members have performed and you would see that it's in our genes to use our tradition in everything we create and so we would sparkle your desire to visit Romania and get to know our traditions closely. You will certainly be conquered by Romanian landscapes and, last but not least, the beautiful girls. We are warm people and good hosts... so we will be expecting you. Oh, and don’t forget “sarmale”! :D
How do you picture Eurovision in 10 years?
That’s a tough one :)
At the rate technical innovations happen you’d never know what will be possible 10 years from now. Who knows what speakers, what lights, what graphics we’ll have at our disposal to create incredible shows?
How are you going to win Eurovision 2018?
We don't know if there is ''a way'' to win. We think that you have to sing with all your heart and maybe have a little bit of luck. We do believe in fortune and that you have to be very well-prepared.
The Humans, thank you very much for this interview! They will be trying to reach the final while singing Goodbye!
