Third and last semi-final in Latvia this week! How surprising will the results be this week?
But before that, here is an interview of Aminata's protégé, Ed Rallidae!
How would you define yourself in one word?
How would you describe your state of mind when you're on stage?
I usually channel a different persona. On stage I'm free of my fears because why bother? No one made me to step on that stage I do it because it's a passion.
How would you quickly tell your life story?
Hmm, let's go: Parents both actors so it was kinda obvious that I would be on a stage some day. Singing since I was 3, playing piano since I was 7 so involved or should I say inlove with music pretty much all my life.
How does one make you angry?
One who whines about every little thing. Why waste your precious energy on something you don't have, just live and see all the beauty around you.
How does one make you happy?
Who would have thought that this was a hard question? I guess it depends on the mood, sometimes a simple burger could do the trick, sometimes it's a walk or going to the cinema or just hearing great news from my friends or family. I'm the happiest when people I care about are happy.
How would you define your taste in music?
Diverse. I love Mozart's Symphonie No. 40 as much as rocking out to Led Zeppelin. It could be like a deep conversation, just let the music do the talking.
If there was just 1 artist you could listen to for the rest of your life, who would it be?
It's hard to pick one. But I guess it would be Stevie Wonder. ''Songs in the Key of Life" is my favourite album! It would be a dream of mine just to share a stage or just be in one room with the legend that is Mr. Wonder.
How would you describe What I had with you, your song for the contest?
It's about the dark period after the end of a relationship. You go through casual ''adventures'' just to ease the pain, just to forget everything but the reality is that it's never gonna be the same. You realize that you have lost something special.
How did you make the decision of entering the Supernova this year?
Well actually I was thinking about participating a long time ago and I had written my own song but then came the amazing opportunity to work with Aminata, and I just couldn't pass by. The famous milk story. I was buying groceries when I got the message from Aminata ''Hey Edvards, long story short I have written a song for you. Would you be interested in working together?'' and my answer ''Hey Aminata, long story short. I almost dropped the milk out of my hands''
How would you make us want to come to Latvia?
Culture! Especially our folk music. If you have the opportunity to visit Latvia at the end of June, you just have to see the Latvian Song and Dance Festival.
How do you picture Eurovision in 10 years?
I hope the quality of music will continue to improve. But all in all I think the competition has grown to amazing proportions
How are you going to win Eurovision 2018?
First of all, working with Aminata is already a victory in itself. But of course, lots of hours rehearsing and improving my vocal skills. I think it's quality that wins, so that is the main focus right now.
Ed, thank you very much for this interview! He will sing What I Had With You this Saturday to try and reach Supernova's big final!
