He's one of the most experienced of San Marino's selection, because he already took part in a Eurovision selection, in Israel in 2013.
Here is Judah Gavra!
How would you define yourself in one word?
How would you describe your state of mind when you're on stage?
Focused but at the same time letting it go and just being in the moment.
How would you quickly tell your life story?
I grew up in a religious family in Jerusalem. Youngest brother to two sisters and one brother. Growing up we were watching Eurovision every year and I remember thinking “one day I’ll be on this stage”. I came to New York City for two weeks in 2002 to sing in a concert with a carry-on size luggage and never left since haha. Went to study music and acting in Manhattan and booked my first musical show 2 weeks after graduation. Since then I performed in musicals all over the United States, sang in concerts at the United Nations, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and of course Kdam-Eurovision in Israel in 2013.
How does one make you angry?
How does one make you happy?
Haha well, it’s not too difficult, food makes me happy. So, bring food with you and we’re good to go! On a serious note, be loyal and don’t take yourself too seriously.
How would you define your taste in music?
My taste in music is very broad. Any music that makes me feel something- laugh, smile, goosebumps, is my taste.
If there was just 1 artist you could listen to for the rest of your life, who would it be?
Damn, that’s a hard one. I would have to say Celine Dion. Let’s keep it within the Eurovision family :)
What can you tell us about your song? Can you give us the title?
Unfortunately, I can’t say much at this early stage. All I can say, the song is amazing. Stay tuned, you’ll get to hear it soon! And I can’t wait to share it with you!
How did you make the decision of entering the 1 in 360 selection this year?
A number of Eurovision fans and bloggers contacted me and told me I should submit a song. And I just went for it. Beside the fact that Eurovision is an amazing stage and it’s a big dream of mine, I love Eurovision and love the community.
How is this year going to be different from your previous participation in Israel?
First of all I’m competing to represent San Marino this year. You’ll get to see a different side of me as a singer and an artist. Israel Eurovision was 5 years ago, I learned a lot since.
How would you make us want to come to San Marino?
I’m going to be there, and we’re gonna hang out together. That’s enough of a good reason to come to San Marino haha
How do you picture Eurovision in 10 years?
More countries are going to compete and Eurovision will go back to play with a live orchestra (that’s a wishful thought)!
How are you going to win Eurovision 2018?
Do you know the movie “Show Girls”? Remember the scene with the pearl necklace? Just kidding... I really believe in the amazing team whom I’m working with this year. We are creating something amazing and I believe when something is good, it’s recognizable. You’ll love it!
Judah, thank you very much for this interview! Tune in tomorrow night to the first 1 in 360 show to discover what he has to offer!
