There are just two days left before the beginning of Destination Eurovision, the selection we are all waiting for! Tension is building up, but every passing minute brings us closer to Saturday.
In the meantime, to help you wait, what would you think of a new interview? It is time for you to meet Masoe!
How would you define yourself in one word?
How would you describe your state of mind when you're on stage?
When I am on stage I am fully happy, and I really want to do well while also enjoying myself.
How would you quickly tell your life story?
It is the life of a passionate kid who never gave up and knew his dreams would one day come true. I am only 25 so I still have a lot of things to learn, but I am anyway constantly hard at work to be sure I give it my best.
How does one make you angry?
I have very hot-headed and impetuous. I ca get annoyed very quickly because of little things, especially when I am focused on my work. I really want to do well, and hate to do things by half.
Now, when it comes to being "angry", it really takes a lot to infuriate me. As long as I am facing positive and respectful people, we are good.
How does one make you happy?
Little nothings can make me happy. To know that the people close to me is happy and healthy is enough to me.
How would you define your taste in music?
I really like French chanson, ever since I was a kid. Today, I am inspired by British artists in particular. Their pop-folk has inspired me a lot in the last few years (Tom Odell, London Grammar, Birdy, James Bay, etc...). My first album will therefore mix shades of French variété with shades of pop and folk.
If there was just 1 artist you could listen to for the rest of your life, who would it be?
The boss ! Jacques Brel.
How would you describe Paradis, your song for Destination Eurovision?
My song Paradis
is a song that had initially not been made for Eurovision. With my friends, the composers Dany Synthé and Jonah, and the author HOPE, we composed it over two years ago already. It is important within my album. It simply tells of love at first sight, that feeling that enters us brutally but gives us incomparable pleasure. We taste it and we can't help it but wanting more and more...
It is a record whose rhythmics and melody get in your head quite quickly, and which creates the same emotions in me with each listen. It overwhelms me, because even if there is a solar side to it, the original melodies are full of melancholy.
How did you make the decision of entering Destination Eurovision this year?
My team was approached by the production of the show who asked if they had titles to send. I very naturally chose Paradis
because it really fits the criteria of the project to me.
How would you make non-French fans want to come and visit France?
If I am representing France, I absolutely want to include the French landscapes in my video and staging. I think the foreigners know Paris pretty well already, so why not put forward another region? I come from the South-West part of France, so maybe! :)
How do you picture Eurovision in 10 years?
To me, Eurovision is timeless. I think that every year, the contest stretches a little farther and is on the rise. I hope to be able one day to witness the birth of a "Worldvision", to see every people of the world reunited for one night.
How are you going to win Eurovision 2018?
I will give it my all! I think that with hard work, will and honesty... we can reach a victory.
Masoe, thank you so much for this interview ! If he managed to make you want to discover his song Paradis (You rock my mind) as a whole, there are just a few more long hours to go through, until Saturday!
